Director Krish who gained a name with his earlier films Gamyam, Vedam, Kanche and Gautamiputra Satakarni is going to make pan Indian movie with the story Rani of Jhansi Lakshmi Bai. 'Queen' Kangana Ranaut is essaying the title role and the movie is formally launched today.
Krish after Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum directed a Hindi movie with Akshay Kumar based on Ramana. In Telugu the same movie is made as Tagore and Krish adopted it accordingly to Bollywood standards and released as Gabbar is Back. The movie became highly successful grossing more than 100 crores in its theatrical run.
Now, Manikarnika is the name of Lakshmi Bai in her young age and she was brought up in Kasi before becoming Rani of Jhansi. At her younger in Kasi, she used to be called as Manikarnika and Krish cleverly chose the name to create huge interest.
The movie will have music composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and story is given by Vijayendra Prasad. The movie is scheduled for a release in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil on 27th April, 2018, exactly a year of Bahubali2. A 2o feet long poster has been unveiled in Varanasi to announce the project.
