Dasari Narayana Rao is one of the best directors, the Telugu cinema has produced. Not just in films, but he also left his mark in other fields, too. Dasari Narayana Rao's proteges are planning to conduct the director's 77th birth anniversary celebrations in a grand way. With a view to inspire the budding filmmakers, they are planning to present "DARSAKA RATNA D.N.R Film Awards" to those who have done outstanding work in the film industry. The awards will be given in various categories.
A committee has been formed for these awards, which includes director-producer Thammareddy Bharadwaja, famous director Relangi Narasimha Rao, and popular producer C. Kalyan as the President-Secrataries. All of these have a long association with the legendary director. B.S.N Suryanarayana, the auditor, and noted journalists Prabhu and Dheeraj Appaji will be the members. The award function will take place on May 5th at Shilpakala Vedhika.
A press meet was held today in the Telugu Film Producer Council Hall to provide more details about these awards. Jury members of D.N.R Film Awards, Thammareddy Bharadwaja, Relangi Narasimha Rao, B.S.N Surya Narayana, Prabhu, Appaji, and Producer Council Secretary T. Prasanna Kumar participated in this press meet.
Thammareddy Bharadwaja said, "As a tribute to Dasari Garu, we will be giving Abhinava Darshaka Ratna, Abhinaya Ratna, Nirmana Ratna, Pampini Ratna, Pradharshana Ratna, Katha Ratna, Sambhashana Ratna, Geetha Ratna, Patrikeya Ratna, and Seva Ratna awards. The other awards will be selected from small and medium-budget films. I appreciate B.S.N Suryanarayana for planning these awards in a grand manner."
Relangi Narasimharao said, "Dasari Garu's death is a void that cannot be filled. We are hereby ensuring sufficient care while conducting these awards in a transparent manner. Though it has been 7 years since we lost Dasari Garu, B.S.N. Suryanarayana has decided to conduct this event in his memory to show the immense respect and affection he has for the legendary director."
B.S.N Suryanarayana said, " Unfortunately, we couldn't continue celebrating Dasari Garu's birth anniversaries due to Covid. But we will conduct the award function every year from here on."
T. Prasanna Kumar said, "Unfortunately, our two state governments look down on the film industry regarding awards. At such a time, it is commendable that B.S.N Suryanarayana has taken the initiative to give awards in the name of Dasari Garu, who is the pride of Indian cinema."
Prabhu said, "In the film industry, Darasi Garu is the one who had great command over all the crafts. I request the entire industry to support this award ceremony which is being held in Dasari Garu's memory."
Dheeraj Appaji said, "It is like a lifetime achievement for me to earn a place in the awards committee."!!
