Sukumar is the only director in the film industry to score the biggest blockbuster this year. No other movie so far has achieved the success that Rangasthalam achieved. Soon after the release of Rangasthalam, the film's producers made an announcement that they are teaming up with the director again for a film with Mahesh Babu, who gave her the first opportunity to produce Srimanthudu.

The combination of Mahesh Babu and Sukumar earlier delivered a critically acclaimed movie 1 Nenokkadine. Even though the film did not do well, Mahesh promised Sukumar to approach him whenever he has got a good script. Currently, Sukumar is brainstorming to a subject that he wanted to make it with Mahesh.

On the other side, the current media speculations reveal that the film unit wanted to rope in Rakul Preet Singh as a heroine for the project. Already, she romanced Mahesh in SPYder which became a flop and Sukumar too worked with her for the movie Nannaku Prematho.
