After facing a series of debacles, director Sreenu Vaitla is all set to test his luck one more time at the box office with his upcoming movie 'Amar Akbar Antony'. The film with Ileana as the female lead is slated for a grand release on November 16th and Sreenu Vaitla said some interesting things about the film in an interview. Here are the excerpts:
How 'Amar Akbar Antony' happened?
After 'Mister' movie failed at the box office, I took a small break and prepared 'AAA' script with new writers. It took us over eight months. As soon as I wrapped up the script, I went to Ravi Teja and he liked the concept. Now, here we are ready to release the film.
Why did you pick Ravi Teja for this film?
Ravi Teja is one of my close friends and even when I was writing the story, the only actor that came to my mind was Ravi Teja. As he is a big fan of Amitabh Bachchan's film, we named this movie also as 'Amar Akbar Anthony' which is also apt for the story. Also, the moment he heard the script he immediately okayed the story without even thinking twice.
Was selecting Ileana your choice?
Yes, it was my choice. She was the one who came to my mind first for this role. Initially, she said no but things worked out later and she is one of the special attraction of our film.
How the movie is going to be?
The movie is entirely based on Ravi Teja’s role which has three different shades. Is he doing a triple role? or only one role with 3 shades? If you want to find out, you need to watch the film. Ravi Teja will lead the film from the front.
How was it working with a big banner like Mythri Movie Makers?
The film was made on a good budget and was set in the US also. Only because of Mythri, we somehow managed to shoot in the US. Also, we have actors like Laya doing crucial roles in the film. They were the ones who made things happen.
What did you learn from your failures?
Failures made me strong. I have been very careful this time and have come with a good film. So, I feel that the movie will definitely become a hit and will prove my point.
Future projects?
As of now, I am eagerly waiting for the release of 'Amar Akbar Antony'. After seeing the result of the movie, I will think what kind of a film to do next.
