Sampath Nandi has seen highs and lows before and after becoming the director. He talks about his 10 December Bengal Tiger release and his experience of working with RaviTeja -
Sampath Nandi, is a known director whose movie BENGAL TIGER is all set for its release on 10th December. It was a tough graph in the cinema career for Sampath Nandi. Let us see if he bounces back with Bengal Tiger. Here is something interesting that we have caught up. Read the interview to know what he had to share about his life, his bond with Pawan Kalyan, failures, and movies.
Q: How much time did you dedicate upon Sardar Gabbar Singh?
A: Pawan Kalyan came up with a story for Gabbar Singh 2 for which we worked together. I worked on the screenplay for the movie. Yes, we have decided to work separately after that and I came out of the project.
Q: How did you get to work for Bengal Tiger?
A: Two days later after i quit from Gabbar Singh-2 project, I got a call from Ravi Teja. I had prepared a story which I narrated it to him. He liked the story instantly. He told me that he liked the flashback episode which is a five-minute streak. I introduced Ravi Teja to producer Radha Mohan and that way this project got materialized.
Q: How come you have titled the movie Bengal Tiger?
A: Bengal tiger is the most intelligent animal. It represents royalty. Ravi Teja's characterization is different in this flick.
Q: A few words about Ravi Teja?
A: I had no proper interaction with Ravi Teja before Bengal Tiger. He watched my movie Yemaindi Ee Vela and called me up. He congratulated me. He always is octane. He works hard to give improvisations in dialogues and roles. This flick is going to be a different entertainer for sure.
Q: About Tamannah and Raashi Khanna?
A: Tamannah can be seen in the role of a well-established heroine whereas Raashi Khanna can be seen in the role of an upcoming heroine. They are very talented and both have done a wonderful job.
Q: Any special memories during Bengal Tiger?
A: We had shot for the movie in the different place like Rajahmundry, Pollachi, Hyderabad and Europe. The shoot was initially scheduled for 110 days. As the planning was too good and the team co-operated so well, we could wrap it up within 100 days itself. Even the budget was as per the plan.
Q: About Boman Irani?
A: I typically penned the role of the villain keeping Boman Irani in my mind. I called him up to narrate the story over the phone. He asked me to narrate the story personally and he soon liked the role and accepted to act in the movie.
Q: We know it is a tad old question. But, please tell us about your relationship with Pawan Kalyan?
A: Sharat Marar, Pawan Kalyan and me have a very good rapport and I learned a lot from Pawan Kalyan. I can tell you I reached a kind of maturity level after some of the conversations I had with Pawan Kalyan. He is there during all my failures and you know what? I have even improved my shot taking skills by learning it from him. It is for sure that I will narrate a story to him very soon.
Q: About the producer?
A: Radha Mohan has played a very important role in my life. He rusted me and agreed to produce the movie. I had a very little money when I was newly married. He gave me half of the money that he made through the sale of remake rights of Yemaindi Ee Vela. I will never forget his support.
Q: What’s your next film?
A: I have a script ready for a big star. Will announce the details once everything falls in place.
