It is known that Mahesh entered the theatre business and built a posh multiplex at Kondapur in Hyderabad. He has now fallen in a legal soup because of it.
As per the latest reports, Mahesh received a show cause notice on Tuesday from the Ranga Reddy district GST Commissionerate anti-profiteering wing in Telangana for allegedly violating GST norms. Just like few other theatres, AMB Cinemas has been reportedly continuing to charge old GST rates, though the GST council had reduced the tax on tickets from January 1st this year. The GST Council had announced that the tickets worth Rs 100 and above would fall in the 18% tax bracket instead of 28% whereas tickets less than Rs 100 would fall in the 12% tax bracket instead of the earlier 18%.
As per the reports, AMB Cinemas has bagged Rs 35 lakhs for January by not reducing the ticket prices. This amount has to be paid back to the consumer welfare fund.
