Janardhan Maharshi is a well known writer in Telugu and Kannada. He has penned many powerful stories. He wielded megaphone for ‘Devasathanam’ which is a feel good movie. Now Sriya as a prostitute Maharshi directed ‘Pavithra’ movie. Let us see how much Pavithra scores.

Story
This is a story of a prostitute called Pavithra (Sriya). Pavithra turns as a prostitute to save her mother. Pavithra charges one lakh rupees for a night. But she will not be able to save her mother from the illness. Mother dies and Pavithra opens a trust. She helps poor, diseased and girls in the profession of prostitution. Meanwhile a photographer Shiva (Sivaji) is a dangerous fellow. He traps girls and gets into physical contact. He records and blackmails the girls. A girl trapped by Shiva commits sucide and will be saved by Pavithra. After that Pavithra take revenge on Shiva and makes him to go behind the bars. Abi (Kaushhik) who is a son of MLA (Saikumar) falls in love with Pavithra and wants to marry her. Even though MLA is against there marriage in order to favour his party he agrees for their marriage. What is MLA’s plan? How Pavithra teaches a lesson for politicians form the rest of the story.

Sriya in prostitute character excelled vey well. She moulded her body language as a prostitute. Sriya’s expressions are also good. Once again she proved that she is a good artiste. Saikumar did justice for MLA role. Sivaji performance in neagative roel is appreciated. Ravibabu, Roja, Kaushikk etc… performed according to their roles. Brahmanandam character is not upto the mark. Coming to the direction janardhan maharshi proved that he is a talented director through ‘Devasathanam’. Pavithra is also appreciated. But he is appreciated as a writer than the director. He has given a very good dialogues. But direction wise he should have taken much more care. Since he wanted to discuss more topics in the movie there was a consufision. Pavithra’s past and her entry into politics has no strong plot. Srilekha songs are average. Even background score is also not so good. With some drawbacks Pavithra may not able to get huge crowd. But the attempt for taking a prostitute story and questions raised referring the society should be appreciated.
