Jayanth C Paranjee is the director of the film and he is back to direction after a long time. Check out our review of the film.
The film Jayadev is about the life of a sincere cop named Jayadev. As part of his daily job, he comes across the murder case of another sincere police officer Sriram (Ravi Prakash). The department hands over the police case to him and he starts crossing each and every single stage to catch the criminals responsible for the death. He then comes across Masthan Babu (Vinod Kumar) and finds that he shares a connection with the murder case. How did Jayadev solve the case forms the rest of the film's plot?
This is the first film for Ganta Ravi and he tried his best to leave a positive impression with the audiences. The actor did his best in the emotional scenes which is a positive thing. On a whole, it is an impressive debut for Ganta Ravi. The heroine is beautiful but did not have scope to perform. Vinod Kumar has got an interesting role in the film after a long wait in his career. The other actors made their presence felt in their limited roles.
The camera work is good. The editing is okay and some boring scenes could have been chopped off to increase the pace of the scenic flow. The music by Mani Sharma failed to impress and he did not make an attempt to attract with BGM as well. The action scenes have come out well. The production values of the film are rich. On a while, the technical team did their best to contribute best output for the film.
Jayadev is the official remake of Tamil Super Hit Film Sethupathi. The film originally had Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role and it has become a very big hit in Tamilnadu. Many people tried to remake it but finally, Ganta Ravi came forward to do the film as his debut. The makers tried to stick to the original and did not attempt any massive changes for the film's script. Ganta Ravi impressed as Jayadev in the role of the cop and he portrayed every emotion properly and appeared as a powerful cop.
The film mainly revolves around the murder of a police officer and how Jayadev solves it. This entire episode was narrated well and was also presented in an impressive manner. The disappointment comes in the form of the romantic track. The lead actors failed to attract the audiences and their track appeared boring in the movie. The comedy track involving Bithiri Sathi and Vennela Kishore is nice. The scenes that tell the greatness of police department and the police officers came out well and they will surely make the cops feel proud about their job.
The first half of the film is boring when compared with the second half of the movie. The second half of the film has some good confrontation scenes between the hero and the villain. They came out nicely and added some interest to the movie's flow. The film lacks some suspense elements and the story is also routine. The songs failed to impress in the audio album and they are bad while watching as well. The climax could have been dealt in an emotional manner but the makers let it go in a plane manner which is another major drawback in the film. The dialogues in the film are too good and they elevated some scenes well.
Verdict: A spoilt remake
