Story: Diya (Veronica), the unborn kid (as a soul) starts taking revenge on those who have become a reason for her death. How is Krishna (Naga Shaurya) and Tulasi (Sai Pallavi) are related to this forms the story of the movie?
Performances : This is undoubtedly one of the best performances from Sai Pallavi in her career. She has excelled in all the scenes and gave her best especially in the emotional scenes. The actress has carried the movie on her shoulders and made people believe that she is one of the most excellent actors in the recent times.
Naga Shaurya is excellent but has limited scope for performance in the movie. Sai Pallavi completely dominates the show and also gets excellent support from child artist Veronica who is very cute concerning appearance and the performance. Priyadarshi has done a meaty role in this flick and generated few laughs. The other actors like Gandhari Nithin, Santhana Bharathi, Rekha, Ravi and stunt Selva have done justice to their roles.
Technicalities : The music scored by Syam CS is decent. The songs in the movie run in the background but add good power to the film. The background score has elevated many sequences in the movie and it can be termed as good work from Sam. The camera work by Nirav Shah is excellent. The production values are lavish as every frame looks so vibrant and colorful. The editing by Anthony is okay. The graphics work was done very well in the film.
Verdict : Coming to the film Kanam, the audiences will never feel excited while watching the movie. There is not a single scene that will increase the curiosity levels of the viewers. The film is dull regarding sending the chills through the spine. The first half an hour of the film introduces the characters and the conflict. Later, it prepares the audiences for a thrilling ride but what comes next is a big surprise for the spectators.
The director has failed in executing a proper and decent story into an exciting movie. The approach towards an interesting aspect of the society by the director is good, but he could have done the same in a much better way. In the end, the film appears no longer exciting and deserves our time only when it is aired on the television.
