Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated movie Kaala is in the theatres from today. The film geared up for a grand release today worldwide after multiple postponements. The movie marks the second time collaboration of Rajinikanth with PA Ranjith.
The trade circles predicted that the film would become a big hit, unlike Kaala. The film was set in the backdrop of Mumbai where Rajini will be the leader for Dharavi slum people. Story: A politician (Nana Patekar), who does the land mafia wanted to grab the slum area in Dharavi. The oppressed people find their leader in Kaala (Rajinikanth) to lead the protest against the politician. What did Kaala do? How did he fight with the politician? What happens in the end? Forms the story of the movie.
Performances: Rajinikanth is amazing in the movie. This has been his best film in the recent times in terms of the performances. After a long time, Rajini's performance seemed effortless in a movie which is a big relief for the fans.
The actor shined with his body language, stylish acts, and the dialogue delivery. His action also deserves a special mention in the movie. Nana Patekar is another great actor who has played the antagonist in the movie. The actor was not utilized completely but he did his best and did justice for the role given to him. Actress Huma Qureshi played a mature role in the movie and will surprise with her performance. The other actors like Sampath, Eeshwari Rao, Samudhrakhani, and others are good in their respective roles.
Technical Aspects: The cinematography of the movie is extraordinary. The lighting is amazing in the film as the cinematographer played with the light and provided the best visuals on the screen.
The editing could have been better and the length of the movie could have been chopped off. The artwork is excellent. The action sequences were nice. The music scored by Santhosh Narayanan is good and his background score deserves appreciation. The production values are grand.
Verdict: The first half of the film is all about the family drama with a light political touch. Superstar Rajinikanth’s simple introduction followed by an amazing performance from all the actors will be interesting to watch.
The technical teamwork is brilliant in the entire movie. ‘Zareena - Kaala’ first meet scene and the interval block have come out well. The film has fewer mass scenes and it has the high runtime. The clash between Rajinikanth and Nana Patekar is shown as well. The film runs on the theme, "Land is our right" The predictable story is told in an exciting manner by designing a beautiful screenplay. The movie is half Rajini and half Ranjith's movie and it is obviously good when compared to Kabali.
