Over the past few years, we have been seeing Action King Arjun Sarja in the supporting artist roles. After playing the father role in 'Naa Peru Surya', Arjun again turned into a hero for 'Nibunan' movie in Tamil. The movie marked the 150th film in Arjun's career and also got dubbed into Telugu as 'Kurukshethram'. Under the direction of a debutante, Arun Vaidyanathan the movie came out as a full-length action thriller. The trailer garnered an average response from the audience. The film recently made a grand release today. Let's check out the review of the movie:
Story: Ranjeet Kalidas (Arjun) works as a DCP. He has the ability to solve any kind of case. But, a murder case gives him a challenge. One day Ranjeet Kalidas with his team including Prasanna and Varalakshmi tries to solve a high profile case which deals with a series of murders. In that case, the criminal intentionally leaves some clues to the police while committing crimes. The case becomes very challenging for the police. Who is the murderer? Why is he killing people? How did Ranjit Kalidas solve the case? forms the rest of the story.
Performances: Needless to say, Arjun who played the role of the DCP in the movie steals the show. Despite being a 54-year-old person, the actor impresses the audience with his fitness and stylish looks. He got a strong character in this movie and we can say that Arjun became the One Man Army and the major driving factor for the film. Prasanna and Varalakshmi delivered their best performances as Crime Branch team members. Chandana also did an impressive job with performance. The Tamil actor who played the psycho killer role also grabs the attention with his outstanding performance. Suman and Suhasini justified their roles. Vaibhav also acted well. The rest of the cast also made their presence felt.
Technical Aspects: The story of the movie is just fine. It is a weak plot with not many twists and turns. Director Arun Vaidyanathan's slow narration will test the patience of the audience. Despite having a versatile actor like Arjun on board, the director failed to engage the audience. He could have edited out some seriously boring scenes in the film. Though there are some powerful characters, the content is not that strong or maybe the director failed to elevate it well. The production values by the producers Umesh, Sudan Sundaram, Jayaram and Arun Vaidyanathan are quite rich. Aravinda Krishna handled the camera well. Music director S Naveen gave good music and elevated some scenes well. The songs are just average. Satish Surya's editing is good. It would have been better if he had edited out some draggy scenes.
Verdict: Nibunan or Kurukshethram is a one-man show by Arjun. Touted to be a full-length action thriller, the movie was not up to the mark when it comes to the thrilling factor. Though the first half is good enough, the director failed to maintain the curiosity in the second half. There are some extremely boring scenes will test the audience patience. However, the action lovers will definitely enjoy this movie and will be a good one-time watch a film for them.
