Veteran Director Mani Ratnam's last film 'Kaatru Velidai' ended up as a dud at the box office. This time, he roped in some star actors in his gangster crime thriller film 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam' which marked a grand release today. The Telugu version 'Nawab' also hit the screens today.
Reputed actors like Aravinda Swamy, Vijay Sethupathi, Arun Vijay, Simbu, Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari, Dayana Erappa played vital roles in the film. Just the casting itself grabbed the attention and the trailers also garnered good buzz. The movie unit is super confident about the outcome of the film. Let's check out the review of this flick.
Bhupathi (Prakash Raj) is a don who gets attacked. Later, his sons (Aravind Swamy, Simbhu, Arun Vijay) come forward to take the revenge. In the process, they start fighting to grab the power and throne of their father. What happens then? Who won in the battle? Forms the story of the movie.
Aravinda Swamy, Simbu, Arun Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi are like four pillars of the film. Despite having so many star actors, the audience will feel that it is important to rope in the veteran actors because every character has a story to tell and scope for performance. Needless to say, the actors have delivered their best performances and impresses the audience.
Jyothika's performance will make us fall in love with her all over again. Aditi Rao Hydari looked sexy in the film and did a decent job. Aishwarya Lakshmi showed a lot of improvement in her acting this time. It has been a dream launch for Dayana Erappa but the actress made it sure not to show that it is her debut films. Veteran actors Prakash Raj and Jayasudha also justified their roles. The rest of the cast also made their presence felt.
Only Mani Ratnam will have the incredible talent of narrating some beautiful, emotional as well as romantic love stories with gangster backdrop. Though it sounded somewhat difficult, Mani Ratnam dealt with the script pretty well with ease. 'Nawab' is not only a well-executed film but also a well-acted flick.
The production values by Mani Ratnam and A. Subaskaran under Madras Talkies banner are rich and the producers seem to be have invested well without any complaints. The combo of A. R. Rahman and Mani Ratnam never fail to spell a magic and 'Nawab' proved it again. Santosh Sivan cinematography is wonderful. Editing by A. Sreekar Prasad is clean and there are no boring or annoying scenes at all. Telugu Dialogues by Shashank Vennelakanti are powerful.
Mani Ratnam, the star director is the wonderful storyteller but of late, his films have flopped at the box office. But now, he is back in sold form with this new film where the strength of the film has lied upon the actors who played the main lead characters.
The way the director told a story with the help of technical brilliance is entertaining. The thrilling and gripping narration is the major advantage for the film. Simbhu and Vijay Sethupathi are the rockstars of the film. The best part of the film is end credits too. So, do not miss the film until the ending.
