Popular cinematographer Nizar Shafi turned as a director for a romantic suspense drama '7' starring Havish. The movie features 6 female leads including Nandita Shweta, Aditi Arya, Poojitha Ponnada, Regina Cassandra, Tridha Choudhury, and Anisha Ambrose. After grabbing the attention of the audience with the teaser, trailer, the movie has finally hit the screens today on June 6, 2019. Let's see how far the movie has succeeded in impressing the audience.
Karthik (Dev) is a software employee who dreams to go to the US. On the other hand, three ladies Ramya (Nandita Swetha), Jenny (Anisha) and Aditi Arya one after the other files a complaint that their husbands are missing. After a series of incidents, everyone finds out that the husband of all these three ladies is none other than Karthik (Havish).
The police understand that Karthik has deceived the ladies and arrests him. But later finds out that the person they arrested is Krishnamurthy who is a lookalike of Karthik. Are Karthik and Krishnamurthy really two different persons? Why the love stories of all these three ladies are similar? What happened to Karthik? What happens in the end? forms the rest of the story.
Actor Havish has performed really well. The actor has delivered an outstanding performance in both the getups. He has succeeded in showing the variations also. Regina Cassandra not only looked beautiful in the film but also delivered a stunning performance in the film. Nandita Swetha also got a meaty role in the film and has delivered their best performance.
Aditi Arya also went under the skin of the character and justified her role. Tridha Choudhury delivered a decent performance. The other two actresses Anisha Ambrose and Poojitha Ponnada made their presence felt. Rahman also performed well in the film. The rest of the characters also made their presence felt.
The only plus point of the film will be the story which is extremely different from the other regular commercial movies. But the director has failed to present the story properly. Also, his pace of narration gets extremely slow in the second half. It would have been good if the director has concentrated more on creating more twists in the investigation part.
Production values are just average. Music by Chaitan Bhardwaj is decent. But, the background score is not that much impressive. Though Nizar Shafi's taking is not good, we can say that his cinematography is really nice and he has produced some beautiful visuals for the film. Editing is also just average.
Though the movie starts off on an interesting note, the director has failed to continue the same pace of narration throughout the film. When compared to the second half, the first half is much better and have some entertaining elements as well. On the other hand, the second half is extremely slow and will actually test the patience of the audience.
Also, romantic tracks could have been showcased in a more interesting manner. Despite having decent performances, the screenplay and the slow-paced narration can be considered as the major setbacks of the film. The climax is somewhat better. Overall, '7' is a badly treated romantic drama and can be skipped.
