Pencil Parthasarathy (Nani) is a novelist known for writing a lot of revenge stories. An old-woman Saraswathi (Lakshmi) gangs up with four others seeking revenge against someone who caused deaths in all of their families. They all reach out to Pencil seeking help. What did Pencil do then? Did he help them? What happened in the end? Forms the story of the movie.
Nani is brilliant throughout the movie. In the character Pencil, he has given his best. The elements like comedy, sentiment, romance and all the other emotions are portrayed well in the movie. Villain Karthikeya too gave his best for the film. But in most of the scenes, his expression seems to be the same. His looks and attitude are impressive though. Heroine Priyanka Arul Mohan is impressive and has got a good screen presence. The actors Lakshmi, Vennela Kishore, Saranya, Priyadarshi, Anish and others are also good in the movie. The rest of the cast made their presence felt.
The film's writer and director Vikram K Kumar has impressed everyone bigtime with an interesting storyline. The music and background score by Anirudh Ravichander is top-notch. The film got elevated to a new level with his BGM. The cinematograhy of the film is superb. The editing is okay too. The production values are lavish. The production design is impressive. The VFX work is also convincing. The technical team did their best.
In the movie Gangleader, Natural Star Nani headlines a slightly bloated but largely fun revenge comedy that's well complemented by some smart writing and twists. Every actor has given their best for the movie and it worked out greatly for the film. The ensemble cast works like a charm, particularly Lakshmi who shines once again after Oh Baby! Great score by Anirudh is an added advantage. The only grouse in an otherwise neat film is a silly homosexual comedy stretch involving Vennela Kishore and Nani. Except for that, the film is a great entertainer with a lot of stuff that people would certainly enjoy! Go watch it in the theatres.
