Ashish Raj and Rukshar Mir starrer ‘Akatayi’ released today after a string of promotions. It is directed by Rom Bhimana and ‘Badri’ fame Ameesha Patel is seen in a special song in this film. Let us see how the film is.
Story
Vikranth (Ashish Raj) is an engineering student with free spirited nature. He falls for Anagha (Rukshar Mir) and he gets to know some shocking facts about his parents through her.
While Vikranth is on his way to find the truth, most wanted criminal Jahangir (Pradeep Rawat) completely shatters his life. Rest of the film is all about, what are those shocking facts? How Jahangir is related to Vikranth’s life? How does he get out of these glitches?
Performances
The basic premise looks interesting and the unexpected twists are major assets of this film. Debutant Ashish Raj is decent and scores well in acting department. Heroine Rukshar Mir adds the required glamour touch to the proceedings.
Presence of actors like Suman, Ramky and Ajay Ghosh save the film to an extent. Mani Sharma’s background score elevates the film especially during action episodes and the twists.
Technical Aspects
Camera work by Venkat is good and editing by M R Varma could have been better. Mani Sharma’s BGM lifts the film decently though none of the songs will be registered in your mind. Production values are decent.
Director Ram Bhimana comes with an interesting premise and ends up giving a half-baked film. She shows his talent in certain sequences but apart from them, the entire film looks mediocre. Had he worked more on the script, ‘Akatayi’ would have been a better one.
Analysis
After a passable first half, the film completely goes haywire in the second half. The screenplay is quite pathetic as audience get bored of some illogical scenes.
Heroine has nothing to do in this film and the chemistry between the lead pair is zero. Songs act as speed breakers in an already bumpy ride.
Too many twists spoil the flavor and unnecessary side tracks could have been avoided. There are too many unwanted characters in this film which brings in a lot of confusion to the viewers.
Final verdict
‘Akatayi’ is a film filled with unwanted scenes and sub-plots. The actors do not add much value to the proceedings. Though the interval episode is good it cannot save the entire film. It is another routine film this weekend which you can give a try if you have nothing to do.
