Ever Friday at least one director is testing his luck at the box office but only a few can gain stardom. Another new director Kotendra Dundyala recently joined this race with his small budget film 'Bangari Balaraju'.
Everyone in the cast and crew are debutants and the movie hit the screens today. Reddam Raghavendra Reddy and KMD Rafi bankrolled this project under the production banner of Nandi Creations.The movie hit the screens today with zero expectations among the audience. Did the movie succeed in leaving a positive impression on the audience? Let's see.
Story:
Balaraju (Raghav) is a villager who is preparing for the civils. He loves his mother so much. One day he sees a girl's eyes and falls in love with her. He immediately sets out to find out her details and whereabouts. Meanwhile Bangari (Karonya Katrin), the village head Jagga Reddy's one and only daughter tease Balaraju every day. Though he is annoyed, as Balaraju is afraid of Jagga Reddy, he won't say anything.
After a few days, he realises that Bangari is the one who he fell in love with. Eventually, love grows between Bangari and Balaraju also falls in love with Balaraju. But will Jagga Reddy accept their relationship? What happened to Balaraju's mother? How Balaraju won the hand of his lady love? Who supported him in that journey? Forms the crux of the story.
Performances:
Raghav delivered a decent performance. Though he is a debutant, he acted confidently in most of the scenes. Of course, he could have done much better in emotional scenes. When it comes to dance, dialogue delivery and expressions, Raghav proved to be a promising actor.
Karonya Katrin looked glamorous and also impressed the audience with her acting. The chemistry between the leads is refreshing and good.
Dookudu Shravan delivered an effortless performance. Comedians Kiraak RP, Jabardasth Bobby generated comedy. Their timing is perfect. Kiraak RP will make us laugh with his mannerisms. Meena Kumari in the mother role can be called as an asset for the film. The rest of the cast also made their presence felt.
Technical Aspects:
The story is a straight forward, simple and less-complicated one which made it easy for the director. He handled the script really well and his execution is good. He could have increased the pace of his narration. The production values are superb. It is evident that it is a low budget movie but the production values are decent.
The music by Chinni Krishna and Chittibabu Reddipogu is good. The background music is better than the songs. The editing is not impressive as there are some boring scenes in the film which test the patience. Of course, they won't disturb the flow of the film much. Cinematographer GL Babu did a great job. The visuals are impressive. On the whole, the technical team did their best.
Verdict:
All the cast members are new which will be a setback for this flick. However, it has a simple, sweet and refreshing love story which engages the audience. The first half is packed with comedy and romance whereas the second half has some emotional surprises.
The mother and son sentiment is shown beautifully. The climax is good. Though there are a few minus points, the movie is really worth a watch. 'Bangari Balraju' will be the best pick for that audience who are ready to watch a beautiful small budget love story.
