Shreayan Kapoor, younger son of Jayasudha enters the Film Industry with a good start.Under the direction of Vasu Mantena, this youngster wants to prove his mettle and continue the legacy of his mother, who is better known as one of the best actress Tollywood have ever had. Shreayan with his good looks, height and smarness made Telangana CM mention him as Tollywood's Amitabh. Height is fine, but what matters is the weight he could envelop into his onscreen debut. So, how is his performance in his debut flick Basthi?
Story Line: Ammi Raju(Mukesh Rishi) and Bhikshapathi(Kota Sreenivasa Rao) are opponents. They always stay ready to ties horns with each other. Venkatapathi Raju(Sree Hari) who brings up Ammi Raju like his own son, before passing away takes a word from Ammi Raju that he would leave all the grudges and lead a common life and keeps his son Vijay(Shreayan) away from all this conflicts. Ammi Raju keeps up his word and lives a common life leading his own business. But Bhikshapati's son Bhavani always initiates for a fight and conflict with Ammi Raju.
Bhavani rapes a woman who belongs to Ammi Raju. Ammi Raju decides to teach Bhavani a good lesson. In this process he kidnaps Bhavani's sister Sravanthi(Pragathi) and keeps her in their store room. How does love happen between Vijay and Sravanthi? What happens next? Go watch in theaters....
Roles and Performances: Shreayan's height and weight with his good physic is attractive. But, as it is a debut, there are not much interesting elements in his acting skills. We can even say the acting should have been better. As for the director it is a debut too, we can witness the movie lacks perfection. Heroine Pragathi's performance was okay. She looked cute. The other cast Kota Sreenivasa Rao, Mukhesh Rishi, Sapthagiri etc. justified their roles well.
Technical Aspects: An ordinary love story can be showcased as extraordinary only through screen play. Basthi is nothing but an ordinary love story. Here the screen play too was mediocre. Camera, editing, direction... everything lacked perfections and remained not bad. Director's lack of experience is clearly visible.
FilmyBuzz Review: Boring routine love story, Created scenes, Plain comedy, unpolished direction. Both first and second half are equally boring. The title is not justified at all. Basthi title gave a powerful impact but the movie disappointed. No proper chemistry between hero and heroine. Loves scenes lacked feel. There is no heart touching scene. Hero and heroines expressions failed to make an impact when their father dies infront of their eyes itself. Shreayan must have selected a role in a way that it launches him well. But he failed to do so. In the very first movie he failed to prove his performance. Selection of improper story is a big minus for him.
Verdict: "Basthi" fails to create "Masthi". Audience disappointed.
