Vijay Devarakonda who shot to fame with ‘Pelli Choopulu’ is back with his next flick ‘Dwaraka’. After some interesting promotions, the film released today. Let us see whether Vijay continued his success streak or not.
Story
Erra Sreenu(Vijay Devarakonda) is a small-time thief. While escaping from a failed robbery, he enters into an apartment named Dwaraka. Some series of incidents prompts him to become Swami Krishnanand and he becomes quite famous all over in short span.
Looking at this, Prudhvi, Prabhakar and others start a trust on his name to swindle donations. Despite all these, Sreenu stays there as he gets to meet his love interest Vasudha(Pooja Jhaveri). Conflict arises when Ramakrishna(Murali Sharma), a rationalist targets Swami Krishnanad and tries to expose him. How does Sreenu get out of all these complications forms rest of the story.
Performances
Post ‘Pelli Choopulu’, Vijay shines again. He impresses everyone with his fake baba act and especially good in comic scenes. He carries the film quite effortlessly. Pooja Jhaveri is good as the love interest of Vijay. Prudhvi once again brings the house down with his performance as Gurumoorthy. ‘Kaalakeya’ Prabhakar impresses with his villain act and so does Murali Sharma who lift the film towards the latter part. Prakash Raj is good in his cameo.
Techincians
The production values are decent and so does the cinematography. Editing could have been better as the proceedings get slow in the second half. The music of the film by Sai Kaarthik is passable but the background music is fantastic.
Director Srinivas Ravindra selects an interesting plot and successfully manages to bring it well onscreen. The first half is quite entertaining and racy. The film’s pace dips a bit during the second half but he covers it up with some well written comedy sequences.
Analysis
As said earlier, the film has an interesting plot. Though the second half is a bit slow compared to the first half, the entertainment part keeps you glued. The runtime of the film is lengthy and the makers could have trimmed a bit to make it crisper. But, the director successfully conveyed the message what he wanted to give.
