Story
ISM revolves around the story of a sincere journalist, who fights against corruption. Satya Marthanda (Kalyan Ram) falls in love with Alia Khan (Aditi Arya). Alia is the daughter of Javed Bhai (Jagapathi Babu).
Javed Bhai has a web of illegal empires and also handles piles of politicians money in a bank called Bank of Paradise.
After so much effort, Alia gets attracted to Satya and gets nod from her dad as well. While eveyrthing was going hunky-dory, Satya cheats them.
Why did he trap her? How will she react? What is Satya's mission? Why did he choose journalism? What is his past? to know the reasons watch the film on big screen.
Performances
There is no doubt that Nandamuri hero Kalyan Ram makes a comeback of sorts with ISM. He has worked a lot for his physical transformation and he is seen in a never seen before avatar in the film. The audience will see a new Kalyan Ram in the film and this is one of the major highlights of the film. Credit should go to Puri for this. Like Jr NTR in Temper, Kalyan Ram sports six-pack abs in the film. He also gave a brilliant performance. Aditi Arya looks beautiful and provides the necessary glamour. The chemistry between Kalyan Ram and Aditi is a treat to watch.
Ali brings some laughs. Jagapathi Babu wasted in badly etched roles. Others have put in decent performances.
Technical
Songs are not that impressive and background score is ok. Editing could have been better. Camera work is top notch. Production values are ok. Several scenes lack substance. Characterizations is a main forte of Puri but that is missing in ISM. The movie lacks emotional connection. The film has a good message but logic less scenes divert the purpose.

Analysis
It is only the climax, that Puri is focusing these days. This is resulting in audience getting bored with mediocre play through out. Hero's make over and new style add to the Hero's charm, but relying alone on those, without having an entertaining play, will not see the anticipated hit talk.
Should say that Puri is losing his strengths, though he brought NTR back on to track with 'Temper', the formula failed with Kalyan Ram.
Kalyan Ram's performance in the court scene can be considered as his career's best. Aditi Arya, though her debut project, gave her best.'Ism' also lacks the puri mark characterizations and the emotional connections. Except some entertainment in parts, pre interval chase scene and the last 20 minutes, the flick lacks scenes with strong substance that makes audience stick to seats. Anup Rubens tunes were not up to the mark.
One thing that should be appreciated is that 'Ism' is a very great idea and it should be agreed that Puri failed in execution part as the plot was predictable.
Jr NTR, who is waiting for the result of ISM, may look another director for his next film. Should say that Puri is losing his strengths, though he brought NTR back on to track with 'Temper', the formula failed with Kalyan Ram. It is high time for Puri to change his ideology and make off beat movies.
If you have patience to wait for the interesting climax, then go for it. Nothing else amuses except climax.
