The film is directed by BVS Ravi who earlier made the film called Wanted. The film is tipped to be a patriotic drama with thrilling elements. Story
Jai (Sai Dharam Tej) is talented and clever. He is filled with a lot of love towards the country. He finally realises the dream of getting a job at Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). His duty is to protect India's vision named Octopus Missile. Keshav (Prasanna) tries to steal it after he joins hands with terrorists. In order to get this missile, Keshav goes to any extent and he becomes a threat to Jai's family. What did Jai do and What happens after that forms the rest of the story of the movie.
Performances
Sai Dharam played his part well by delivering a decent performance at the box office. The film has come out well with the decent performances from everyone. The female lead Mehreen is a feast to watch as she impresses with her glamour. The romantic drama came out well and the on-screen chemistry between the lead actors is good.
Prasanna Kumar who played the baddie is the major highlight of the film. The other actors like Subba Raju, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Jaya Prakash, Eeshwari Rao, Naga Babu and others are good in their parts and made their presence felt.
Technical Aspects
The story is good but the screenplay is not designed in a convincing manner. The dialogues are okay. The cinematography in the movie is decent. The editing is alright. The music scored by Thaman is nice and his BGM worked well. The production values of the film are grand.
Verdict
The movie Jawaan starts off on an interesting note and the characterisation of Tej has been well designed. But in the process of elevating the hero, the makers ignored the villain and Prasanna fail to impress completely and looks harmless in almost all the scenes. The cat and mouse drama between SDT and Prasanna was not gripping.
Though the film's runtime is less, the songs look like speed breakers. Except for the first song, all the other songs fail to keep the audiences sit in the theatres. The second half is good when compared to the first half of the movie. Some of the important scenes came out well because of extraordinary writing but the climax is a letdown. On a whole, the film is watchable with family but the movie fails to live up to the expectations.
