Versatile director Bala has come up with an exciting project now which stars Jyothika in the lead role. The film is titled as Naachiyar in Tamil and the dubbed version is titled as Jhansi. D Abhiram and Koneru Kalpana have produced the film jointly under Yashwanth movies and Kalpana Chitra banners. The film's trailer opened to a positive talk. Story: Jhansi (Jyothika) is a powerful cop. She is a straightforward person. She does not show any attention to higher officials. One day, she comes across a minor girl pregnancy case which involves Raashi (Ivana) and Gali Raju (GV Prakash Kumar). Raashi and Gali Raju are actually lovers. They accept the same. Jhansi comes to know that the DNA of Gali Raju and newly born baby is different. How did Jhansi solve the entire case? Forms the story of the movie.
Performances: Jyothika played a powerful role in the film. She played the part police officer well and appeared strictly. Jyothika's screen presence is terrific in the film. Her aggressive body language and voice modulation are certainly worth mentioning. She carried the movie on his shoulders. Ivana played her part well in the movie. GV Prakash played another exciting role in the film. He emoted some expressions well in the movie. GV Prakash did complete justice in playing his part well. The rest of the cast made their presence felt.
Technicalities: Bala wrote an interesting story but the treatment was so nice. The suspense factor was not sustained throught out the movie. The second half of the movie is good when compared to the first half of the film. The music of the movie is excellent. Ilayaraja scored an amazing background score for the movie. The background score of the film elevated the film properly in many aspects. The camera work by Eeshwar is decent. The cinematography went well with the mood of the film. The editing is neat and good. The production house maintained proper making values.
Verdict: Bala wrote an exciting storyline in the film. The film has a novel and realistic point in the movie. But Bala failed to take the film forward in an engaging manner. The film was slow at times. The screenplay is pale and the writing is weak. The nativity issue also came up which has become a reason for Telugu audiences not liking the film properly. The director has written some decent emotional scenes which impressed everyone very well. The investigation scenes could have been well. On the whole, it is a one time watchable flick.
