The wait is over. Finally, super star Rajinikanth's Kabali has hit the theaters across the world on Friday in more than 4000 theaters. Kabali fever grips the entire nation and fans went frenzy. Even a week before its release, the tickets were sold out in most of the theaters.
Kabali is an action-thriller, written and directed by two-film old Pa Ranjith. Now, let’s see if Kabali does live up to the expectations…
Story:
Kabali is a gangster movie, in which Rajinikanth plays the role of a don Kabaleeswaran aka Kabali.The story begins with Kabali getting released from a Malaysian jail.He was imprisoned for 25 years.
He fought for Tamil labourers who work in Malaysia and rose to an influential person.Veera (Kishore), who feels jealous of the rise of Kabali, hatched plans to destroy Kabali's gang. After an attack, Kabali ends up in jail.
After releasing from the jail, he sets out on a mission to take revenge against a Chinese don Tony Lee (Winston Chao) who is behind the death of his pregnant wife. During the process, he comes to know some shocking revolutions.
What happened to Kabali's wife Kundanavalli (Radhika Apte)?. How will he take revenge? Watch the film on big screen to find out the reasons.
Performances:
There is no doubt that Thalaiva, the name is enough to draw the audience to the crowd. He is the biggest asset of this gangster film. He once again shows his power on silver screen but age is showing up on his face. However, he is perfect fit for the role of an aged don Kabali.
Radhika Apte looks good as Kundanavalli and gave her best for the limited role. Dhansika did a good job as Rajini's daughter. Others including Nassar put in decent performances and fit the bill.
Technical:
Dialogues are good at places. Music is not that good but Santosh Narayan's background score is attractive. The song Nerppu Daa will bring goosebumps to Rajini fans.
Cinematography takes the cake on the technical front. Editing is not good and many scenes are dragged. Production values are rich. Director Ranjith Pa wasted the big opportunity and he should have taken much care on the story and screenplay.

Analysis:
Since Rajinikanth appeared as a don in the film, the fans hoped that he will recreate the magic of Baasha. The makers have managed to raise the expectations to the roof but director failed miserably in making it an interesting movie. Expects some sparks here and there, the director lets down the fans and it falls way shot of the huge expectations.
The viewers will find the film boring at places and the editor should have trimmed some scenes as the slow narration makes the audience squirm. But it is a treat for hard-core Rajini fans as he entertains them with his mannerisms.
Twist in the interval block, some flashback scenes, some stunts and the back ground score are the major plus points of the film. Several scenes involving Rajini and Radhika Apte have been well executed and the following episodes are also handled well.
The audiences will come out from the theaters thinking they deserved much better film from Rajini. The only saving grace for the film is Rajinikanth and his powerful styles and mannerisms.
In all, Rajini fans will be happy watching him play yet another gangster movie. Finally, Kabali is a below average outing from the South Super Star.
