Power Star Pawan Kalyan is back with Katamarayudu. It carries huge expectations as the posters and trailers have become popular. Does it live up to expectations? Let’s find out.
Story:
Katamarayudu has brought up his four brothers single-handed and does not want to get married as he fears that bringing a woman into the house will cause a rift among the brothers. But the three brothers, who are already in love, plan to make Katamarayudu fall in love. They found an ideal match for Katamarayudu and zeroed in on a classical singer Avanti ( Shruti Haasan). They make several plans to bring Katamarayudu and Avanthi together. After several attempts, both Avanti and Katamarayudu fall in love. But Avanti's family is targeted by Bhanu (Tarun Arora). Who is this Bhanu? How does Katamarayudu save Avanti's family from him? forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Katamarayudu is dedicated to Pawan and he is a one man army. Pawan carries the whole film on his shoulders with his action and comic timing. All the characters are all overshadowed by Pawan in the film and he also looks powerful in traditional lungi and dhothi. Shruthi Haasan gets a meaty role and she grabs eyeballs. Her scenes with Pawan Kalyan are impressive.
Ali’s part brings laughs. Rao Ramesh is perfect in his role. Prudvi provides some laughs in the second half. Nasser and other actors have done their job well.
Technical:
It's the fights that impress most. Major plus point of Katamarayudu has been the high-octane action episodes. Dialogues are adequate enough for a mass movie. Camera work is top class. Editing and pace of the movie is average. Anup Rubens’s music is a big let down as none of the songs make an impression except the tittle song. But background score elevates the mood and screenplay is also gripping.
Production values are good. Director Dolly has presented Pawan Kalyan in a way that fans will love.

Analysis:
Though it is a remake of Ajith's Veeram, director Dolly has made suitable changes to script to suit Pawan's image and body language. He also ensured that the film has a typical Telugu nativity to it. The director starts off the movie in interesting way with powerful entry of Pawan Kalyan in lungi.
Pawan Kalyan's power-packed punches and equally powerful dialogues have guaranteed to send his fans into a mad frenzy. In the second song, Pawan dances wearing lungi receiving claps from masses. There are many clap-worthy moments in the first half. The film works mainly due to Pawan's charisma and the budding romance between Pawan and Shruthi. Post interval, the movie slows down a bit but action episodes keep coming and the narration goes on. efficiently. Katamarayudu is dotted with many scenes that elevate heroism to the peak.
On the down side, second half of the film moves on a slow pace, as a number of scenes have been dragged unnecessarily. Music of the film is the biggest minus. Overall, the film has a good first half and some interesting moments in the second half.
Final Verdict:
All in all, Katamarayudu is an out and out mass entertainer. It will appeal to the family audience too. You will see a different Pawan Kalyan in the movie.
On the Whole Katamarayudu is feast for Megafans and Mass Audience.
