Story
Krishnamurthy (R P Patnaik) is a calm and very honest lecturer in Devaraya junior college. He leads a normal life with his wife (Anita). In a shocking turn of events, Krishna Murthy hits the headlines for wrong reasons. A media channel called Mudo Kannu shows Krishnamurthy in a bad light saying he has molested his college student. Though he is innocent, the channel never listens to his pleas. He lost his job and he gets a bad mark in the society. Deeply upset with this, he files a defamation case against the news channel.
How he proves his innocence and he faces the consequences created by the media ? How did fight against against media forms the rest of the story.
Performances
RP Patnaik had already proved his mettle as an actor by playing a blind hero's role in one of his previous movies. He once again comes up with a natural performance as a honest lecture in this movie. He has shown ease and confidence while fighting against the media. This is a come back film for Anita Hansnandani who is busy with serials in Hindhi. She did a very good job. Sai Kumar is versatile as usual as a media baron.
Sreemukhi earns some brownie points with her performance. Others including Nassar, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, Tanikella Bharani, Raghu Babu and Jaya Prakash Reddy have performed accordingly.
Technical
Music is not up to the mark and songs are not effective. Dialogues are very nice in places. Editing is not near and could have been far crisper in the second half. Cinematography is good and production values are decent. RP Patnaik always selects a burning point in the society and makes a film on it. This time he made a film based on current media. His approach is very impressive and had he taken care over the plot in the second half, it could have far better.
Analysis
Multi talented actor RP Patnaik has come up an interesting concept for Manalo Okkadu. It's a war against the so called 'ego' of the media. The first half of the film is very gripping and has many good moments. The film has touched upon several real incidents and tried to show how the people are misusing the media. It has good comedy scenes and a couple of twists keep the audience engaged and entertained in the first half of the film. An interesting twist before the interval heats up the things. But the proceedings in the second half make you disappointing for some time but it picks up towards the climax. More than an actor RP is good as director for this film. Overall, it offers a wonderful message. If you want to watch a bold film with a good message to the society, then go for Manalo Okkadu and it will be a great watch for them.
