Pandhem Kodi 2 is the latest action thriller drama in the theatres. The film is the dubbed version of the Telugu movie Sandakozhi 2 which is the sequel of the 2005 released film Sandakozhi.
The same film released in Telugu as Pandhem Kodi. Linguswamy N is the writer and director of the movie who waited all these years for making the audiences experience an action feast. The film is said to be a 25th movie for Vishal in his career. Raj Kiran plays a key role while Keerthy Suresh played the heroine. Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar will be seen in her first ever Telugu film and she played the antagonist in the movie.
Story : Balu (Vishal) is known to be a strong person in his village. He and his father (Raj Kiran) are considered to be the lions of their area who does all the good deeds and involves in settlements. At a point of time, they decides to protect a young man who is in danger because of a woman (Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar). Then, she shifts her vengeance on to the family of Balu. How did Balu protect his family? What did he do to put an end to her? What happens in the end? forms the story of the film.
Performances : Vishal proved as a real performer yet again. He is undoubtedly one of the best actors we have in the South. His performance in this film is natural, raw and realistic. His way of emoting the scenes is exceptional.
Keerthy Suresh got a completely different role in the film. She has put up a wonderful performance in the movie as the village belle. She is a surprise package in the movie.
Varalakshmi Sarathkumar is bold, intense and extraordinary. We have not seen her performing and this will surely bring her a lot of opportunities in Telugu. Raj Kiran is impressive in his character. Soori was able to bring some decent laughs. The rest of the cast performed well and made their presence felt.
Technical Aspects : Technically, the film is awesome. The makers took great care in terms of the technical aspects and the dubbing related works. The film has got some great visuals. Sakthivel's camera work is top notch. Praveen KL's editing is impressive.
The background score of Yuvan Shankar Raja is compelling but the songs in Telugu could not become a hit. The Telugu dialogues are okay. The production values of Vishal Film Factory are grand.
Verdict : The film Pandhem Kodi lost the shine that the first part actually has. The movie is good in terms of the story but the way it was narrated was not so impressive. The movie is definitely a step ahead from Vishal's previous movies but at the same time, it does not live up to the expectations and craze of the Pandhem Kodi.
There are many less impactful scenes on screen than ruin the watching experience and brings the boredom. The songs also acted as the speed breakers in the film which is a big drawback. Though the director has penned some interesting characterizations, he failed to run an interesting screenplay. On the whole, the film is good in parts and worth a watch for action lovers.
