The oldtimers can never forget Akkineni Nageswara Rao in the famous song "Soggade Chinninayana." Now, the first line of this immensely popular song is the title of Nagarjuna's latest film. Nag comes in two avatars - as the dhoti-sporting playboy and as in innocent and trouble-torn NRI. Ramya Krishna and Lavanya Tripathi play the lead roles in this movie. Let's see what and how of the last of the Sankranthi releases.
Story
Ramu (Nagarjuna) is an NRI and has marital discord with his wife Seeta (Lavayna Tripathi). Both decide to take divorce and Ramu comes back to India to inform his mother Sattemma (Ramya Krishna). When Sattemma comes to know of this she is shocked and thinks of her long-dead husband Bangarraju (Nagarjuna). Nagarjuna comes back from Yamaloka in the form of Atma and tries to bring the estranged couple together. At the same time, he realises that he was killed by his uncle (Nasser) who eyes his property. How Bangarraju defeats Nasser's machinations and how he manages to unite the estranged couple within the time given to him by Lord of death is the story of this film.
Performances
Nagarjuna steals the show with his double role as both Bangarraju and Ramu. The variation shown by him is superb and his rural dialect is just apt. As woman's man Bangarraju his action wows all. His dance for Soggade Chinni Nayana song is too good. As for Ramya Krishna, she plays her role with aplomb. Her action is perfect. Lavanya Tripathi looks cute and acts natural. Anushka has a cameo and as usual, she wows the audience. Anasuya is seen in two scenes and a song. Hamsanandini as usual is hot and Brahmanandam as fake baba is just apt for the role.
Technical
The story is developed from a line given by producer P Rammohan. The story is not really new, but interesting scenes are woven around this theme. Director Kalyan Krishna did a good job and the dialogues written especially for Bangarraju are very good. Nagarjuna's modulation too is apt. Anup Ruben's music is good and the composing and picturisation of the title song is fun and feast. Camera work and editing are good. The production values are good.
Filmy Buzz analysis
The first half of the film is fun and frolic. It remains very entertaining. The second half has sentimental touch. Nag's chemistry with both Ramya Krishna and Lavanya is very good. The body language of Bangarraju is simply adorable. If you leave the questions pertaining to logic behind, the film is eminently enjoyable. In the final analysis, this is an out and out family film and don't miss.
