After delivering two disasters like 'Oka Manasu' and 'Happy Wedding,' mega daughter Niharika Konidela is planning to score a hit with her upcoming romantic entertainer titled as 'Suryakantham.' With this interesting title, Rahul Vijay of 'Ee Maaya Peremito' fame played the lead role in this flick directed by Pranith Bramandapally of 'Nanna Koochi' fame. Distribution giant Nirvana Cinemas entered the production zone and is bankrolling this project. The movie has been carrying a decent pre-release buzz and hit the theatres today on March 29th. Here is the review of the film.
Story: Suryakantham (Niharika)'s parents part ways when she is a child. She grows up with her mother. She becomes a crazy girl who is impulsive, fun and easy going. Abhi (Rahul Vijay) loves Suryakantham, but she vanishes off. Abhi then gets engaged to Pooja (Perlene). Suryakantham comes back to Abhi's life. What happens then? How did this triangular love story end? Forms the story of the movie.
Performances: Niharika Konidela can be considered as one of the most significant plus points for this film. The actress has been showing improvement with each of her movies and did the same with this film as well. Rahul Vijay delivered his best performance. Perlene Bhesania looked pretty and promising. Though it is her debut movie, she has produced a decent performance. Needless to mention that Suhasini has acted naturally and justified her role.
Madhubani did her best. Shivaji Raja did a convincing job as the father of Rahul Vijay. Satya has defended his role. The rest of the cast also made their presence felt.
Technical Aspects: Production values by Nirvana Cinemas are very rich. It is evident that the makers have invested decent amounts and haven't compromised in terms of quality. Music by Mark K Robin is one of the plus points for this film. He has given not only some catchy songs but also delivered astounding BGM which suited the story well. Cinematographer Hari Jasthi did a good job. His visuals came out well. Editing by Raviteja Girijala is clean and neat. The run time is crisp.
Verdict: Director Pranith has prepared a decent story for the film. He has succeeded in lacing it with lots of comedy and entertainment which became a plus point for this film. The way he narrated the story is really good and especially in the second half, he has managed the emotions equally well. The movie opens on a happy and entertaining note. The first half is pretty much good as there will be a bunch of comedy scenes which are funny and entertaining. The climax twist creates curiosity among the audience.
The second half runs slow with some drama and emotional scenes which might test the patience of the audience. There are some extremely funny moments and also some irking moments in the film. The triangular love story formed among Niharika, Rahul, and Perlene is good but the conflict point is not convincing. Overall, 'Suryakantham' is a good one-time watch film.
