The wait is finally over as Tamil actor Suriya's much awaited film 24 has released across the world on Friday. The combination of Suriya and Manam fame Vikram K Kumar had created curiosity. The trailers raised expectations further. Let's see how this film turns out to be.
Story:
The story of 24 revolves around the rivalry between the brothers and a time travel watch. As seen in the trailers, Suriya plays three roles in the film. Two brothers- One brother is a scientist, the other is evil guy called Athreya (Suriya). Siva Kumar (Suriya) is a genius scientist and after a lot of experiments, he invited a time travelling watch. Athreya wanted to grab it from Siva Kumar. To get the watch, he went on to kill Siva Kumar and wife but he could not eliminate Siva Kumar's son Mani Shankar (Suriya) and ended up in coma for almost 26 years. Later, Athreya wakes up from coma and got to know that he lost the time travel watch. Mani Shankar is a watch mechanic. Will Mani know about his past? Has Athreya grabbed the watch? forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Suriya is simply the best and his stunning screen presence that steals the show completely. He puts in a beautiful performance in three roles and once again leaves a good impression.
Nithya Menon puts in a decent performance but Samantha who scores more marks with her gorgeous looks. She is perfect in her role. Ajay gives apt performance. Other including Girish Karnad, Saranya Ponvannan, Charle, Sudha, Sathyan and Mohan V. Ramandid what is required for their roles.
Technicalities:
AR Rehman's background score is the life line for the film but songs go unnoticed.
Tirru's cinematography is impressive and translated the director’s vision. But credit should go to producer Suriya who invested a whopping amount in an experiment film and production values are superb as the film looks very rich in visuals.
Editing is good but could be little better.

Filmybuzz Analysis:
There is no doubt that director Vikram K Kumar joins in the list in one of the best directors in the country. Sci-fi thriller is a tough subject but he handled it with ease. He has surprised everyone with his thrilling narration of three generation in Manam and now once again proved his mettle by attempting a sci-fi thriller in a mainstream commercial format.
The concept of time travel machine and the way it executed is supremely brilliant. Surya is at his best again and his performance is very natural. Like Manam, 24 has many moments to cheer. Suriya's powerhouse performance, engrossing scenes , brilliant cinematography and Samantha's glamour are some of the major highlights of the film. Screenplay of the film is a huge plus and snazzy camera work provide the right sort of magical ambiance for the story. However, the movie suffered from simple climax and run time is also one of the drawbacks of the film.
If Vikram K Kumar have handled the climax in more better way, the output of the film could have been event better. Overall, 24 is a treat to watch for the audience who enjoy different films.
