RGV's Vangaveeti has garnered a lot of attention for several reasons. The film has received very good openings at the box office. Let us see how far this film reached the expectations.
The story is about two rival families of Vangaveeti and Devineni in Vijayawada. It begins from Chalasani Venkata Ratnam's rowdysm and ends with Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga's murder. Vangaveeti Radha (Sandy) is a small time rowdy and becomes very popular with the help of Venkata Ratnam. His growth is hated by Venkata Ratnam. Radha kills Venkata Ratnam and rules Vijayawada. Two bothers- Gandhi and Nehru join Radha's group. How Vangaveeti and Devineni families split? How Ranga killed? forms the crux of the story.
Sandy as Ranga and Radha is an apt choice. His body language is very intense and he wows everyone in the role. He has done full justice to both the roles. He has a bright future in the industry. Happy Days fame Vamsi Krishna as Murali also fits the bill perfectly. He performed his role extremely well. The guy who played the role of Devineni Nehru is also good. Naina Ganguly is beautiful and is intense. Others are new to the Telugu audience and they performed accordingly.
RGV perfectly recreated the 70's and 80's ambience and art department should be given credit for this. Visuals are top notch. Editing is good and so are the dialogues. Production values are very impressive and Dasari Kiran Kumar has not compromised anywhere. Background music is terrific and takes the movie to a new level. Costumes are realistic.
Plus Points : Performances, 70's and 80's ambience, picturisation
Minus Points : Too much blood sheds, RGV's voice over
There is no doubt that RGV is a master of movie making and very good story teller. His screenplay techniques and shot compositions will definitely thrill everyone.
Sandy's performance and RGV's taking are major assets of the film. From the beginning to till the interval bang, the film is quite gripping and the audience glued to the seats. The pace of the film is little slow in the second half but mood is suddenly picked up after some scenes.
The film has many scenes which are clap and whistle worthy. All the murder sequences have been shot extremely good. The way rivals sketched plans and how they implemented are extremely realistic. Sandy as both Radha and Ranga is marvellous and Varma used him extremely well. The way RGV takes off with each scene and how he gets the viewer into the film are brilliant.
Those who are aware of the Vijayawada politics will be glued to the scenes from the beginning to end. The film may not attract the class audience as there is too much blood sheds.
