After a successful outing with ‘Happy Days’, Rahul aka Tyson failed to sustain is success streak with a line of disasters. After some gap, he is trying to make a comeback with ‘Venkatapuram’. The trailers raised some curiosity and let us see how the film is.
Story: After being a topper and a bookworm in her schooling years, Chaitra (Mahima Makwana) starts enjoying her college days by smoking with friends, going out with a guy and many other things. She chooses a pizza delivery boy Anand (Rahul) as her friend. She gets into a tricky situation and asks for Anand’s help. But ends up dead in a gunny bag on Bheemli beach and Anand gets into prison. Rest of the story is about how he solves the mystery.
Technical: Music by Achu is good but the background score is bad. Cinematography is pretty decent though there are some inconsistencies in the tones. The production values are okay and so is the editing.
Direction and screenplay by Venu Madikanti is a letdown. He chooses a different plot but his direction is below par. The lackluster screenplay damaged the narration further.
Filmybuzz Analysis: The basic premise of the film is pretty interesting. Rahul impresses with his physique and looks good onscreen though his acting needed a bit of fine tuning.
Actoers Kasi Vishwanath, Ajay and Ajay Ghosh looked quite apt and adds weight to the film. Songs are quite good in this film and are an added advantage to this film.
Certain scenes are dealt extremely well and a 20 minute portion in the second half looked interesting. The crisp run time is also a saving grace for this film.
Though the plot looked interesting, its execution leaves a lot to be desired. The screenplay of the film is predictable and a lot of scenes are dragged.
Mahima Makwana doesn’t appear as a heroine and her acting is quite pathetic. She is definitely a misfit for this role. The background score is very inconsistent and sounds too loud sometimes.
After a good start in the second half, the film goes awry and tests the patience of the audience.
Conclusion: On the whole, ‘Venkatapuram’ is a decent attempt and those who like different films may have a look at it. But the general moviegoers may find it tough as it is quite slow and predictable at times. The film is backed by some decent performances and an interesting backdrop but spoilt by a amateurish narration.
