After the stupendous success of ‘Pelli Choopulu’, Vijay Devarakonda’s next flick ‘Dwaraka’ is getting ready to hit the marquee on March 3rd. ‘Dwaraka’ marks the debut of director Srinivas Ravindra. Let us see what this debut director says about his film.
Tell us about your background and how did you become a director?
I am from West Godavari district. I did my M.A in psychology and did business for two years which I didn’t feel comfortable. With the help of a friend, I came to the industry accidentally in 2002. Here, I started as a writer and an assistant director and worked under Tammareddy Bharadwaj and Pawan Kalyan.
How is your film ‘Dwaraka’ going to be?
This film goes on in an apartment named ‘Dwaraka’. All the characters will be its residents. This film touches upon various aspects of Lord Krishna and mainly runs around love though it is not a complete love story.
Tell us about the character of Vijay Devarkonda in the film?
VijayDevarkonda plays the character of Erra Sreenu in this film. He is a small time thief and faces many hurdles in his life. This film showcases his life journey.
What is difference Between ‘Pelli Choopulu’ Vijay and ‘Dwaraka’ Vijay?
In that film Vijay plays the character of a lazy jobless young man. It shows only one angle in him but ‘Dwaraka’ shows his different angles of a thief, lover and also god.
How will audience get satisfied with Vijay’s role in this film?
In this film, we never focused on hero image and stardom. There is a curiosity among people about Vijay and we will definitely satisfy it.
You said hero will be seen as god. Are you giving any kind of message to people on god?
Not really. The entire story doesn’t run on the god angle of the hero. It is just a part. This film deals with god’s existence and doesn’t give any kind of maessage. ‘Dwaraka’ is a satirical comedy film.
Why did it take so long to release this film though it is completed long back?
Yes, the film was completed way before ‘Pelli Choopulu’ but it got postponed due to the demonetization effect.
What was the reason behind taking Vijay for this film?
I knew Vijay from very long and he had a spark in him right from his first film. Even producers gave their nod when I suggested his name for this film.
How will you entertain the audience with this film?
Each director is possessed with a unique style. While some entertain with visuals, some mesmerize with action. I will entertain the audience with my script work. Story is the main strength of this flick and screenplay will also be interesting.
Does this film have any dance and fight sequences of the hero?
Vijay does a lot of dances in this film. He even got trained for this film to showcase his other angle. Coming to fights, they will be an integral part of the story and doesn’t look out of place.
