Victory Venkatesh is coming with another experiment ‘Guru’ which is the remake of Tamil film ‘Iruddi Sutru’. Sudha Kongara, who directed the original version had directed this film too. ‘Guru’, which created good buzz from the first look itself is gearing for release on 31st March. On this occasion, we caught up an exclusive interview with Venkatesh. Let us see what he had said.
Tell us about this film and your career?
I am a very disciplined actor. I give my 100% for every film. While I was looking for a different subject, this film came to me. The lead role is very aggressive and suits my age. Everybody do make mistakes but should never repeat them. I personally don’t take things to my heart.
While remaking a film, which is tough? Story or the character?
It is both. As film is a business, it better to go in a safe zone. The film’s result while be pleasing if the emotions workout. It is challenging to play a role which already impressed the audience. To impress them yet again is a challenging task.
As this is a very aggressive role, how did you prepare for it?
We get to see a lot of tough and strict people around us. Teachers for example have their own techniques. Also, we have seen so many types of coaches in films. It did not take much time for me to get into this role. I sport a very different look in this film. I even learnt boxing for 5-6 months. It is tough to predict how this character behaves in this film.
What are the changes you saw in the industry?
There are no changes in the industry but the audience had changed. We need to change accordingly and try different films or else it would be difficult.
Can we see you direct a film or doing a reality show in future?
Not at all! I decided not to enter into them. There are many people to do it. I have many headaches and don’t have time to think about these. I have many personal works to look after.
Tell us about the music of this film?
Music came out really well. All the songs are good. The visuals of ‘Oo Sakkanoda’ will be cool and different.
The production costs are increasing drastically in the industry. What do you feel about it?
It is not good and many troubles may arise due to this. Production cost should be according to the market value. There should not be any comparison with others and money should be spent only if the story demands. I look that my producers should not get losses and don’t like taking risk with money.
Audience had encouraged many sports based films. Do you think your film will also become successful?
Many sports based films came onscreen. While some became hits, some films disappointed the audience. A film becomes a hit if audiences get connected with the emotion. A person reaching top from bottom will easily get connected with people. There are many such points in this film.
Already this film came in two languages. Why did you think of remaking this film again?
You are thinking that many people had watched this film. But, I feel many people still did not watch this film. That is the main reason. Common audiences come with a clean heart into the theatre. They enjoy this film. Only 5% who watch the film are critics and who watched the other version of this film. This film is made for the rest of the 95%. After a long time, Venky is coming up with a new role and this is first sports drama in Telugu.
What are the kinds of movies or roles you want to do in your next films?
I never thought in that way. There are some subjects. One of them would be a family thriller and would like to do that first. Will announce about it soon.
Tell us about Rana?
He is fond of films right from his childhood. He started VFX business right from the age of 17. He has a lot of contacts with everyone compared to me. He evolved through these years. He did well in his first film ‘Leader’. In ‘Ghazi’, he impressed everyone a lot. His upcoming film ‘Nene Raju Nene Manthri’ will be showcasing his acting caliber.
