NRIs have been complaining about the ticket prices from long. Each and every telugu big film, increase the ticket rates by leaps and bounds and try to milk them for more money.
Recently, for Baahubali2, the premiere ticket rates have been quoted at the rate of $30 and the first day ticket rates are quoted at $25, respectively. This created a staunch resistance among the NRIs who thought if they start spending so much for every movie then the exploitation will see no end.
While many of them decided to watch the movie for a later day, few bought the tickets st such prices too. But the people belonging to Ottawa decided to boycott the movie at such rates and OTA, Ottawa Telugu Association, issued warning for Telugu distributor that if they do not reduce ticket prices, they will boycott the movie.
Bowing down to the pressure, the distributor announced the ticket rates at $12.25 in Landmark Cinemas, 24, Kanata, Ottawa. Well, many NRIs think to take this as an example and want to restrict the ticket rates, like for Bollywood and Hollywood movies, which do not cross $10 mark.
