Nayanathara, who is scoring successive hits is back again with ‘Dora’. This is her second horror flick after a super hit ‘Mayuri’. The film raised a lot of interest with its trailer and let us see how it fared.
Story :
Parijatam (Nayanthara) wants to start a cab service and in that process buys an old car. Later, she finds that her car is possessed by an evil spirit. Things become very complicated for her and she finally decided to find the mystery behind it. Rest of the story is all about how she finds the truth and get out of the problem.
Performances :
The film entirely belongs to Nayanthara. She looks gorgeous in normal attire too and performs her role effortlessly. She carried the entire film on her shoulders and her action in the second half is amazing.
The point of car possessed by an evil spirit is an interesting one. The second half is way more interesting. The entire flashback scene had been written well and it connects with the audience. The way the plot is connected with all the characters was also well executed.
Technicians :
Cinematography by Dinesh Krishnan is fantastic and he succeeds in bringing the required mood with his work.
Background score by Solomon is perfect and elevates the film to a certain extent. Editing should have been crisper especially in the first half. Production values and dubbing done by Malkapuram Srinivas are good.
Filmybuzz Analysis :
The film is very passive in the first half and gets interesting only post interval. The scenes between Nayan and her dad were unnecessarily dragged. After revealing the main twist, the film becomes predictable and climax is also hurried up which may disappoint some.
Like many horror flicks these days, this film too lacks the depth and there are not much spooky moments in this flick which may disappoint people.
Director Ramaswamy succeeded in taking an interesting plot but failed badly in the execution. His work during the first half is below par and spoils the experience a lot.
Final Verdict :
‘Dora’ is a film that rides on the stardom of Nayanthara. Though it has an interesting second half, a boring is first half turns out to be a bane for this flick. Go for it this weekend if you have nothing to do.
