Cinematography: Venkat C. Dileep
Cast: Rana Daggubati, Kajal Aggarwal, Catherine Tresa, Navdeep, Ashutosh Rana Etc

After a humongous film like ‘Baahubali’, Rana Daggupati is coming up with a political thriller ‘Nene Raju Nene Mantri’. The combination of Rana and director Teja surprised everyone. The expectations over this film increased a lot with its teasers and trailers. Kajal Agarwal and Catherine Tresa acted as female leads in this film. Being the craziest film of all the 3 films releasing today, let us see how it fared.

Story: Jogendra (Rana) is a merchant who gives loans in his village. He leads a happy life with his wife Radha (Kajal). She becomes pregnant after 3 years of their marriage. Both of them await the arrival of their new family member. One day, Radha gets pushed from the stairs of the temple by Sarpanch’s wife and she loses her kid. It is this incident which makes Jogendra to contest for Sarpanch post and win it.

He kills the Sarpanch and starts getting bigger in politics. He gradually becomes MLA and reaches a position where he almost reaches CM chair. What does he do after that? What did Jogendra get after all this politics forms the rest of the plot.

Performances: This film is undoubtedly Rana’s one man show. He carried the entire film on his broad shoulders with his stellar performance. His confidence is clearly seen onscreen. He acted very well in the emotional scenes and the negative shades in the character were also ably portrayed. His screen presence is the major asset of this film.

Kajal is quite convincing in the role of Radha. Unlike her previous films, she gets a role with substance and made full use of it. Her action in emotional scenes were amazing. Her chemistry with Rana was adorable. Catherine Tresa was good and did justice to her role. Ashutosh Rana was decent as the villain though his role wasn’t etched properly. Navadeep did a good job and so does Posani Krishna Murali. Jaya Prakash Reddy, Tanikella Bharani, Bithiri Sathi and others were quite apt and did their part required.

Technicians: Music by Anup Rubens was good. His songs went in flow of the film and his background score elevated many scenes. Venkat C Dileep’s cinematography suited the mood of the film. Dialogues by Lakshmi Bhupal were extraordinary. They elevated the characters many times and there were few satirical dialogues on current politics too. Editing could have been better as the second half was a bit slow. Production values were decent as the makers spent on what was required.

Director Teja surprises you this time with his different attempt. His screenplay was tight for most part of the film. He brought out some spectacular performances from the lead cast. His direction was good and reminded everyone of his brilliance. Had he taken more care on the second half, the film would have remained as a classic political thriller in Tollywood.

Analysis: The film starts on a decent note with hero and heroine being established. The emotional scenes in the film are perfectly executed and makes get attached to the film. Rana’s character is the major highlight of the film and full marks to Teja for writing such good character. His raise as a politician is an interesting watch. The narration is quite good till the first half and the interval block increases the interest of audience.

Send half too starts on a good note but the tempo goes down a bit compared to the first half. After a lot of drama, the climax may not go well with everyone and may disappoint some. Also, there is no logic in certain scenes and looked unconvincing. A film of this kind needs to go on a serious note and regular movie goers find it tough.

Conclusion: ‘Nene Raju Nene Manthri’ is an interesting political thriller with strong emotional content. If you are a fan of serious political films then this will definitely impress you. If you ignore few glitches here and there and a simple climax, the film is a good choice to watch this long weekend.
