Shatamanam Bhavati is the third Sankranthi release this year and jostles for space as a minnow amid two Goliaths. The film stars young Sharwanand and beautiful Anupama Parameswaran. This is a Dil Raju production.
Story: Set in the backdrop of the picturesque Atreyapuram in East Godavari, the film is about a village patriarch Rajugaru (Prakash Raj). Though affluent, his biggest worry is that his sons and daughters are settled abroad and never bother to visit him. So, he hatches a plan to bring all of them to Sankranthi festivities. But, this upsets his wife (Jayasudha). His grandson Raju (Sharwanand) helps untie the knots and bring all of them together? Why is Raju Garu''s wife upset? What went wrong in the family? And how does Raju unite all of them? To know the answers to these questions, one has to watch Shatamanam Bhavati.
Performances: As usual, Sharwanand plays the role of unifier with aplomb. His performance is understated and subtle. His nuanced performance wows all. Anupama Parameswaram puts up a sparkling performance. The on-screen chemistry between Anupama and Sharwa adds shimmer to the taut film. Her cute expressions and romantic scenes with Sharwa make you want to root for her. Prakash Raj and Jayasudha marshall all their experience to give a depth to the emotions. Naresh is impressive and proves he is a very under-rated artiste.
Technical Aspects: Delectable camera work by Sameer Reddy, colourful cinematography and lilting music by Mickey J Meyer lift up this film. Music is yet another asset of the film as all the songs have been shot extremely well.Editing is decent. There are many heart touching scenes in the movie.
When Dil Raju is around, there can never be a death of sound production values. The dialogues are simple yet effective.
Director Satish Vegesna does a very good job. He manages to chisel out a delectable film out of a predictable story. The way he portrays family bonding and love is very good. The only jarring point is that second half could have been more taut.

Analysis: The best thing about this film is that it is a clean entertainer with drama that looks natural and acting that looks flawless. Prakash Raj is very natural and so is Jayasudha.The climax is very absorbing and the family values showcased in the film will strike a chord with the family audience. All the songs in the movie have been shot well.
A clean entertainer that seeks to highlight family bonding. It is backed by natural and nuanced performances.
On the flip side, the storyline is wafer thin and the comedy tracks appears forced. The second half looks predictable.
Verdict: This is a film which will do exceptionally well with the family and overseas audience as the lead pair ensure that things fall in right place A true family cinema. Natural, nuanced performances, breathtaking cinematography lift up Shatamanam Bhavati.
