Energetic Star Ram as the hero and glam doll Rashi Khanna as the heroine, SHIVAM hit the theaters today. After a commercial hit like Pandaga Chesko, Ram has come up with this movie 'Shivam' which is also expected to be a commercial love story.
Ram plays the role of young man Shiva, who believes a girl and a boy should be able to face anything in love if they truly love each other. He is also seen risking his life to unite a lovers. He promises to himself that he wouldn't give up at any cost in case he loves a girl.
In the process of helping a lovers to get married, he ends up locking horns with the nefarious villain Bhoji Reddy's(Vineeth Kumar) son. Shiva eventually falls for a girl called Tanuja (Rashi Khanna). He tries all the ways to impress her.
How Bhoji Reddy takes revenge on Shiva? how Shiva gets connected to Tanuja? how is Abh i(Abhimanyu Singh) connected to Tanuja?. all these have to be watched in the theaters.
Roles and Performances:
Ram is such an easy actor who gets glued to any kind of role. He is seen energetic and perky as usual. Need not even specify about fights and dance by Ram. They are just so energetic and fresh. Ram costumes seem to be very youthful and give a very fresh. Can say Ram is the backbone for the movie.
Rashi Khanna looks very attractive and cute. She has given her best in the limited scope she had. She was fixated as a limited role. But she justified the role.
Abhimanyu Singh and Vineeth Kumar justified their roles. Bramhanandam, Sreenivas reddy, Sapthagiri, Fish Venkatesh etc. were funny, laughable and managed to give some good streaks of comedy.
The other star cast includes a big list of stars and everyone justified their respective roles.
Debut director Srinvas Reddy failed to come up with a strong story line. There was nothing naive in his direction. He managed to give a normal output. The whole story runs only with a single line and all the other elements are interwoven. This leads to mere boredom. He also tried well as there were many twists in the movie.
There were a few powerful dialogues. Credits to Kishore Tirumala. The BGM and music are a collection of good tracks basically. They also went along with the story.
Camera's capture of the lens by Rasool Ellor is too good. Screenplay, editing etc are okay okay and as the length of the story itself is a little long, these technicalities seem to be mediocre. And last but not the least: Production values are obviously lavish and good.
Dances, fights, comedy... Ram is capable of doing all these with ease. It seems that the selection of script is the main drawback for Ram. There is nothing more than a normal commercial movie. Ram needs to take care while he selects the scripts. There is nothing new or interesting.
Verdict: Too many cooks spoil the broth.. Like wise weak story line, too many twists and length spoiled 'Shivam'
