The captain of the ship is the director for the movies they say... One of the iconic directors of the present times is Krish. Giving to the industry, movies like GAMYAM, VEDAM, KRISHNAM VANDE JAGADGURUM , Krish is one such director who proved his prowess in making movies that carry a core message.
Kanche is the movie that Krish has directed recently. Mega hero Varun Tej and debutante Pragya Jaiswal as the lead pair, Kanche is all set for its release. We have coped up with an interview with this highly talented director.. Take a sneak peak of what he wants to share:
Q: About Kanche's storyline? And how is this movie unique?
A: The second world war has brought a drastic change in the lives of human race on the earth. Its been 75 years ever since this happened. Among the soldiers who fought this war, were 25 thousand Indians. Every soldier's life is an unveiled chapter. I have tried to unveil one of those soldier's chapters.
Q: Why only Varun Tej?
A: See, there is nothing much that will be special other than budget hike if the movie is being made casting with already popular heroes. I am sure that I can establish hope and trust with this flick. I had to work with Varun Tej for his very first movie but that did not happen. Since then, I have been traveling with him and I found a rare sincerity in his eyes. That was exactly what I needed for this movie's story. This movie is a love story of a soldier which is elevated with a backdrop of 1940's time period.
Back then, even in teenage people would appear so mature. Varun can be seen in the role of a student in the year 1936 and then he also have played the role of a soldier of the year 1944. It is my strongest opinion that the variations for the roles can only be justified by Varun Tej.
Q: More into the love story?
A: Caste, Region, Religion, Accent... all these are the barriers that the human kind has created for itself. Love is something eternal. In this movie, the hero falls for a rich girl named Seetha. Their love leads to all kinds of hiccups in the lives of many.
Q: How is Kanche different? What's the naive streak in the movie?
A: Never in the past, is there such a project. The genre is untouched. It is because of this specialty, that the producers did not back off to invest so much money. Never did the regular kinda movies excite me. I was excited after seeing EEGA.
Manirathnam garu once told that he makes movies for him-selves first and for the viewers next. That somewhere hit me hard. So, I have followed that strategy.
Q: How much time did you actually take for shooting this movie?
A: It took 55 days to shoot the whole movie. We had some shoot schedules here in India and other things were shot in Georgia. Most of the countries were a part of the world war-2. I took more time to narrate the sequences.
Q: When did you actually pen this story?
A: Japanese blasted a bomb near Andaman and Nicobar islands. They even tried to do the same thing with Vizag also. But, it was a failure. They left India after making a dam in Vizag. The dam attracted me when I was shooting for Vedam. I then planned to make this movie.
Q: Did Varun agree for this project as soon as he was narrated?
A: I met Nagababu even before Kanche and narrated a story to him. But the movie did not go on to the sets as the climax did not support. But as soon as I narrated him this story he was so excited and gave me a nod.
Q: Reason for postponement?
A: I missed out to show perfection in some minute things. I missed out a minute detail which would have been probably highlighted if not corrected. So, that was the reason.
Q: Highlights of the movie?
A: There is an intense war sequence of run-time 12 minutes. We had to work very hard at Georgia for this particular sequence. I am sure this scene will garner praises from the audience.
Q: Are you confident about the movie's success?
A: Yes.. I trust that the movie is gonna be a commercial hit. I have felt the positive vibes like I felt for Gamyam and Vedam. Even at the box office, the movie will stand still.
Q: Projects with Mahesh and Charan?
A: I had a plan of doing a movie with Mahesh Babu and the title would probably be "Shivam". But it did not workout. I also tried to make a script for Ram Charan. There are changes in the story and it is undone.
