Story: In the backdrop of 1970’s, Pakistan army sends their submarine Ghazi in help of their soldiers who are struggling in the fight with Bangladesh. They plan to destroy India’s most powerful submarine at that time ‘INS Vikrant’ to weaken India’s strength.
India tracks this news through intelligence agencies and deploys S-21 submarine with officers like Arjun Varma(Rana Daggubati) and others to counter Ghazi. How they manage to fight the deadly Ghazi forms the crux of the story.
Technicalities: The film has a strong technical team. Cinematography by Madhie gives you a Hollywood touch to this film. Editing by Sreekar Prasad is brilliant. The art department needs a special mention as the sets give you a feel of real submarine and they are just perfect. The VFX department’s work is top notch. The background score is fine though better BGM could have done wonders for the film. Production values are of international standards and PVP and Matinee Entertainment must be commended for taking the risk and producing such a brave film.
Director Sankalp Reddy deserves major credit for making such a unique and engaging film right as his debut film. He had stuck to the concept and did not let the stars take the limelight but put their acting prowess to full use. He surely has a great future ahead and proved that debut film need not have routine dance and fight moments.
Filmybuzz Analysis: Firstly, the entire team of ‘Ghazi’ must be appreciated for believing in the script and coming up with a splendid film. It can easily be stated that a film of this type is never seen on Indian screens.
Rana Daggubati proves why he is the best option for different films yet again. He never lets his image overshadow the script and impresses everyone with his controlled performance. ‘Ghazi’ could not have been the same without the support of seasoned actors like KK Menon, Atul Kulkarni, Satyadev and many others. Their experience and talent is what took the film to next level.
On the down fronty, though Tapsee acted well, her role has nothing to with the proceedings. Some scenes could have been more dramatized such as blasting of Pakistani submarine and singing of national anthem and few more.
There are less war scenes in the film and more confrontational scenes which might disappoint some.
The drama in the film is showcased supremely well and the conversational scenes between Rana, Atul Kulkarni and KK Menon make you get glued to your seats completely. Also, the film has a lot of detailing in it and surely is worth watching by every movie lover.
Conclusion: ‘The Ghazi Attack’ is a brilliant film which will make every movie lover in India proud. The film is very gripping and leaves the audience spellbound. Though it may not cater to audience who come to theatres to have complete entertainment, this film is a must watch to everyone without any doubt.
